Promoting Online Learning
Part of the role of a Teacher/Mentor or Registrar is to promote online courses to students and others. You might be speaking with students themselves, their parents, and/or their school counselors. There is no such thing as the perfect online student; every student should be able to find a DLC online course that appeals to her and at which she can succeed.
There are factors, though, that lead to higher success rates among students. Take a look at the DLC's Indicators of Student Success when recommending online courses. These qualities have proven to be good indicators of student success, although the lack of one or two does not necessarily predict the opposite. While some students may not meet each of these indicators of success, it has been found that an increased level of support given to these students -- at school and at home -- can help mitigate challenges.
