Time Requirements
Before students commit to participating in a particular online course, the DLC recommends students and Course Support team members review time-pertinent information that can be found on our site.
Academic Calendar
It's critical that you know where to find key dates for DLC registration and for the individual course providers. The DLC's Academic Calendar can be accessed from the "Calendar" link on the Course Support page or any view of the Online Courses page.
Each course provider has its own start and end date(s) associated with their courses; these dates may or may not align with your local school calendar, but must be adhered to.
DLC participants must file registrations into the DLC registration system on or prior to a provider's "Last Add Date" for a given term.
Course Completion Time
The course completion time, like the provider's academic calendar, directly influence your student's ability to manage his/her time while taking an online course and should be taken into consideration when building the student's full course schedule. On-site vacations and half-days may not be accommodated by online course schedules. Some providers have included not only the course length in weeks, but also the number of days per week and hours per day students taking the course are expected to spend. You can find the course completion time within each course description in the DLC course catalog, as boxed in red, here:
