Develop a professional network of school librarians

Librarians, as a rule, are a very generous group. Librarians who are successful at integrating online learning resources into the school teaching and learning culture will likely be very willing to share their knowledge and experiences.

Getting involved with a school library organization, like the Washington Library Media Assocation (WLMA), will help further expand your professional network and help keep your professional edge sharp.

Setting aside a couple hours every month to read school library journals, such as Teacher Librarian and School Library Journal. Subscribing to key listservs, such as the WLMA discussion group and the national LM_Net discussion group will also help keep you tuned in to what works.
