Welcome to Train the Trainer!
Register: Train the Trainer - November 2008 in Spokane
Register: Train the Trainer - January 2009 in Seattle
This program will provide an introduction to the training needs of Digital Learning Commons resources. The Train the Trainer Program (TtT) is for school-based and district-level teachers who have a desire to learn about the breadth and depth of DLC resources and to share that knowledge with other site-based educators in their implementation and use of the DLC.
The TtT program comprises a workshop, with skill-building activities and a participant workbook, and an online course. The program provides teachers with an introduction and the ongoing support needed to deepen their understanding of the DLC resources. We will also introduce and model concepts from our Teacher2Teacher Program to help participants share their knowledge with other teachers.
The Train the Trainer Participant Workbook is intended to complement your experience during the TtT workshop. It is our hope that by offering you a variety of examples of how DLC resources can be used, the handbook, along with this website, will improve the quality of your training experience and also give you ideas for sharing the DLC at your school. Use your TtT workbook to further your understanding of the topics covered and to document what you learn about specific resources. The TtT workbook and website will serve as a permanent reference for you.
Post-workshop, you will complete an online course that will take you beyond the content covered during the workshop. One important thing for you to understand is the uniqueness of each tool, (e.g., netTrekker versus SIRS). The workbook along with the online course, both of which include exercises and worksheets, will help you understand the differences between resources and how to use each tool in meaningful ways.
Our goal is to provide the best possible resources and program materials for you and future program participants. Please email your feedback about this beta version to dlcinfo@learningcommons.org so we can improve it in the future.
