Apex Learning ClassTools

ClassTools is a set of online curricula that students can work through independently. ClassTools makes it easy for you to assess your child's knowledge without being a subject-matter expert, and it's great for personalizing a curriculum for your child.

The set includes ClassTools for math, English, Advanced Placement, science, social studies, and world languages.

Beyond Books

Beyond Books features a set of online interactive textbooks for middle and high school students. You can use materials from these textbooks to create lesson plans tailored to your child's interests. Beyond Books is organized by the following subjects: literature and language arts, science, social studies, world languages, and electives.

ALPs (Accelerated Learning Plans)

ALPs Math and Reading tutorials help students review and practice math and reading skills, and assess their knowledge, in preparation for tests and the WASL. ALPs was developed by the Federal Way School District's Internet Academy.

The DLC Library features five databases:

    Seven encyclopedias, including science, multimedia, and Spanish-language resources for all ages
  • netTrekker d.i.
    High-quality, prescreened, and educationally relevant online resources, including lesson plans and curriculum resources for all grade levels
  • SIRS
    Thousands of articles focusing on current issues, science, history, the arts, and more
  • Facts on File News Service
    News digests summarizing U.S. and world news from 1940 to the present

DLC library resources can be used with students at any level, from elementary to high school. SIRS Discoverer and Grolier's New Book of Knowledge, America the Beautiful, and Amazing Animals are perfect for elementary-age students, and older students can explore the full range of resources.

Courses are taught by online instructors, who are certified teachers, and feature flexible scheduling. The DLC catalog has classes to fit your child's needs:

Catalyst Digital Tools

Collect the best examples of your child's work in one easy-to-use tool.

These easy-to-use online tools help you and your child create portfolios, web pages, online quizzes, and surveys. The tools facilitate collaboration and writing practice. The following Catalyst tools are featured:

Bridges College and Career Planning Tools

College and career exploration tools for children of all ages.

Children of all ages can explore career options and create learning plans with these tools. Older children can investigate colleges and prep for the SAT. Parent tools are included too. Your DLC subscription includes the following Bridges resources:

  • Choices Planner
    Career and college options, interest assessments, online portfolio, transition planning for students with special needs, scholarship finder, high school plans, and parent tools. Choices planner is aimed at high school students.
  • Choices Explorer
    Career profiles, videos, and real-life expert interviews and activities to expand career awareness, post-secondary programs, high school plans, parent tools, and classroom lesson plans. Choices Explorer is designed for middle school students.
  • PAWS in Jobland
    Interactive activities to help elementary-age students learn more about themselves and the people in their community, classroom lesson plans and activities, and parent tools.
  • testGEAR (SAT)
    testGEAR includes self-paced tutorials, adapts to each child's needs by creating a personalized study plan for basic skills enhancement, and offers SAT practice tests with feedback.

DLC Tutors

DLC Tutors can help teens with coursework.

Your child can connect with an online mentor via monitored and secured DLC-provided email to receive:

  • Subject-area assistance with coursework.
  • Help using DLC resources and online courses.
  • Guidance in the use of DLC college and career planning tools.
