The Digital Learning Commons (DLC) Teacher2Teacher (T2T): A Collaboration Project is designed for teachers who show strong leadership in their schools and are eager to expand their use of DLC resources. We invite you to join us for this professional development program, provided at no cost to you, which begins in August with a three-day retreat and continues with two additional follow-up conferences throughout the school year.
Using the concepts of peer coaching and powerful teaching, this content provides you with the skills and support needed to integrate technology into your work in meaningful ways and to help your colleagues develop the necessary technology skills and instructional strategies to integrate digital resources into their teaching and learning.
The ultimate goal of T2T is academic achievement for all students and growth and success for your staff. Some of the specific goals are to train you to help other teachers:
- Plan and implement instructional activities that integrate DLC resources into their curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate DLC resources into their lesson activities.
- Use coaching and collaboration skills to promote discussion and reflection about instruction.
A Successful T2T Teacher Leader:
- Engenders trust with peers and is a flexible team player
- Is recognized by staff as a strong/outstanding teacher
- Communicates and listens well
- Provides a safe, risk-taking environment and is non-judgmental and accepting
- Knows how to organize and structure a technology-rich classroom
- Knows what teachers are doing in their classrooms and builds on those needs
- Presents technology as more than an "add on"
- Demonstrates how to replace what teachers are doing with something better
- Is an administrator involved in the classroom or has support of a school administrator to work with other teachers during the school day
Curriculum is focused on five central themes: coaching and collaboration skills; engaged learning principles; curriculum planning skills; modeling; and, use of DLC tools and resources.
