Discussion Boards
Introduction
In this activity, we will begin to explore the characteristics of effective staff development related to the integration of technology. We will explore a research-based professional development model that has demonstrated great results.
You're going to participate in a small-group discussion guided by your facilitator.
Getting Started
Part A: Discuss Effective Professional Development
- Break up into groups of four to six.
- Pick a facilitator and a recorder/timekeeper. The recorder should pick up a flip chart and marker for your group.
- Discuss the question below. Record key findings on the flip chart.
- Think of a time when you learned something from a professional development experience that changed your practice as a teacher or principal. What made the experience so effective?
- Each group reports its key findings on what made the professional development effective.
- After giving your report, post your chart on the wall.
