Linking to the DLC

Want to point to the DLC? A link from your site to the DLC is a great way to get students and educators into the DLC resources.

Homepage

The best bet is to link directly to the DLC's homepage:

http://www.learningcommons.org

You are, of course, free to link to any page on the DLC site. But, the homepage includes frequently-changing links to highlights, school profiles, and weblog entries.

Student/Educator/Parent Sections

Other popular sections to link to are those aimed at students, educators, and parents:

http://www.learningcommons.org/students/
http://www.learningcommons.org/educators/
http://www.learningcommons.org/parents/

DLC Resources

Linking directly to DLC-supplied resources is not recommended. Many resources need to be accessed via the DLC website for authentication purposes, and they might not work if accessed directly. If you'd like to point to a specific resource, pick the DLC resource page instead. Example:

http://www.learningcommons.org/students/library/nettrekker.php

Search - Simple

You can put a DLC search box directly on your site by including the following HTML code:

The search form will take up a 250 x 120 pixel space on your page. It will include the entire form, as well as a tasteful little DLC logo.

If you'd like the search engine to default to elementary or middle school resources, just replace ?level=high with ?level=elementary or ?level=middle.

Note: If users haven't visited the DLC site and signed in using their school name and mascot, they'll be prompted to do so before completing the search.

Search - Full HTML Code

For those who would like a bit more control over how the search form looks and is integrated into your site, use the full-blown HTML form below.

You're free to alter the layout of this form or style so it fits into your site's design. Just make sure to include all of the form elements, or the search won't work.

If you'd like the search engine to default to elementary or middle school resources, just replace the "high" value in the level hidden input with "middle" or "elementary".

Note: If users haven't visited the DLC site and signed in using their school name and mascot, they'll be prompted to do so before completing the search.

Images

We have a few variations on the DLC logo that you can use on your site. Please save these images to your server and don't pull them from the DLC server.
